Love Never Fails
As the new year begins, I look back at all the things that happened in 2012, good and bad and I reflect on my accomplishments and disappointments. I realize that I have learned many lessons. One very important lesson is to be grateful for all that God has given to me.
I believe this past year has been tough on most of us and so many of us wallow in our struggles and disappointments instead of learning from them and moving on. We need to create a “New Us” for a “New Year”. I know it may be easier said than done, but if we just take one day at a time, forgiving ourselves for our mistakes and turn our sufferings into creativity, we would all be better off. We need to try to not focus on the problem or mistake and accept the fact that we are only human and life happens. I, nor anyone else is “Perfect”, we all have different habits, beliefs, and opinions. If we could all learn to accept people as they are, imagine what a beautiful place this world would be.
We should try to find the goodness in all things and rise above all the hatred in the world. There will always be haters but we don’t have to be like them. If we wish for peace, we must start with ourselves and show it with our actions. When we give of ourselves it is in that, that we truly show our love for one another.
This life is so rushed. Days become weeks, weeks become months and before you know it, the year is gone. I live in a cul-de-sac and I haven't seen most of neighbors for over a year. My friends tell me, “Oh are you too busy for us?”. My son is turning 17 this month and will be driving soon, then he will go off to college and then he will eventually get married and have children of his own. It seems as if it was just yesterday he was born. We are always in a hurry and forget about the things that are most important in our lives.. I have lost friends and family this past year and it makes me realize even more that we never know when our time is up so we can’t let life pass us by!
We need to let go of the negativity and jealousies and focus on the love, family and friends that God has given us at the present moment. We need to appreciate each day as it comes and learn from our mistakes and move on. We also need to find our inner peace and then share it with the world starting with one smile at a time, one hug, one thank you, one forgiveness. As the Bible says, “Let thee without sin cast the first stone”. We are to show kindness to everyone by loving our neighbors as ourselves with a spirit of gentleness.
So, as the new year begins, I will leave you with this: First Corinthians 13:4-8:
“LOVE IS PATIENT, LOVE IS KIND, AND IS NOT JEALOUS. LOVE DOES NOT BRAG AND IS NOT ARROGANT, DOES NOT ACT UNBECOMINGLY. IT DOES NOT SEEK ITS OWN , IT IS NOT PROVOKED, DOES NOT TAKE INTO ACCOUNT A WRONG SUFFERED, DOES NOT REJOICE IN UNRIGHTOUSNESS, BUT REJOICES WITH TRUTH; BEARS ALL THINGS, BELIEVES ALL THINGS, HOPES ALL THINGS,
ENDURES ALL THINGS.
LOVE NEVER FAILS
